We teach people from 9 years old and there is no upper age limit. Surfing is for everyone who wants to have fun. You only need to be able to swim.

Not at all! Most students never surfed before and we will provide you with all the instructions you need. Before entering the water we take time on the beach to explain, beach safety, your surf equipment and surf technique.

No, you don’t need your own surfboard and wetsuit. Full-length correctly fitted wetsuit and beginner surfboard is provided.

Adult surf lessons are 2 hours in total, this includes beach instructions and surfing. Kids surf lessons are 1,5 hours including beach instructions and surfing.

The surf lessons are held at Fitzroy Beach and we meet at the Surfing Taranaki HQ building. This is across from the Fitzroy Beach Holiday Park reception. At the Surfing Taranaki Building are changing rooms and hot shower facilities. Please arrive 15 min early to get ready.

All the equipment you need for surfing is provided, you only need to bring a towel, comfortable swimwear to wear under your wetsuit, clothes for after the surfing lesson, a bottle of water and sunscreen.

The surf lesson only runs in safe weather conditions. When the waves are too big or the wind is too strong the lesson will be cancelled and refunded or rescheduled. When the waves are good and it rains, we still go ahead, in the ocean we will get wet anyway.

The group lessons have 1 instructor per 3 – 6 people. The group lessons are held in small groups so we can provide safe and quality surf lessons.
